Share of secondary registered cars up in Kazakhstan

By the end of first 10 months of 2019, over 1.2 million vehicles were registered in Kazakhstan, which is 12.2 percent more than during the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to KazAutoProm (union of Kazakhstan's automotive industry enterprises).

Some 1.1 million vehicles of the number account for secondary registration, which is 11.5 percent more than last year. The number of newly registered vehicles amounted to 83,330 vehicles, which is 23.4 percent more than during the same period of last year.

The number of vehicles registered in October amounted to 139,575 vehicles, which is 9.3 percent more than during the same period of last year. Some 129,824 vehicles of this number accounted for secondary registration (increase of 8.3 percent).

Furthermore, the demand for electric cars in Kazakhstan decreased by nearly two times. The number of electric cars registered in Kazakhstan during first 10 months of 2019 equaled 24 cars compared to 47 cars sold during the same period of last year.

Over two thirds of the secondary registered vehicles (69.3 percent) accounted for vehicles over 10 years old. Dynamics of automobile markets deals continues to indicate a trend towards the gradual aging of the Kazakhstan’s fleet.

The largest number of secondary registration of cars during the 10-month period accounted for Almaty region 174,410 cars), Almaty city (144,324 cars) and Turkestan region (104,689 cars).

The largest number of secondary registration of vehicles over 20 years old (99,344 cars) accounts for Almaty region. The largest number of secondary registration of cars less than one year old accounts for Almaty city (1,609 cars, increase of 22.1 percent), Nur-Sultan (987 cars, increase of 13.6 percent), and Atyrau region (640 cats, increase of 8.8 percent).

The number of new passenger and commercial cars sold in Kazakhstan during first nine months of 2019 amounted to 51,871 vehicles worth 499.8 billion tenge ($1.2 billion), which is 19 percent more than during the same period of last year.
