Cargo vehicles transshipment volume up by over 400% in Kazakhstan's Kuryk port (Exclusive)

The volume of cargo vehicles transshipment via Kazakhstan’s Kuryk port increased by 400 percent in 2019 compared to 2018, a source in the port told Trend.

Thus, the volume of cargo transshipment via the largest transit hub of Kazakhstan amounted to over 1.06 million tons of cargo during first nine months of 2019 (22,362 units of transport).

The volume of trains transshipment in the port amounted to 16,117 trains during the reporting period, which transported 894,558 tons of cargo.

The volume of vehicles transshipment equaled 6,246 vehicles (167,678 tons), including 1,251 light vehicles (2,263 tons) and 4,995 cargo vehicles (165,415 tons).

Furthermore, transshipment volume of deck cargo was 67 tons during the reporting period. Number of ship calls into the Kuryk port was 453 cases in nine months of 2019.

Kuryk Port is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, south of Aktau city. The port has direct access to the railway tracks. The ferry complex of the port is designed for transshipment of goods, including grain, petroleum products, fertilizers and chemicals.
