The heads of the Akhal, Balkan, Lebap, Mary and Dashoguz provinces of Turkmenistan have reported on the successful fulfillment of contractual obligations for the production of raw cotton, Trend reports referring to Turkmenistan's Altyn Asyr TV channel.

More than 1,050,000 tons of raw cotton have been delivered to the country's procurement points, as planned.

The country's farmers continue to work at an accelerated pace to harvest all the cotton crop grown in the fields.

Turkmenistan intends to increase the plan for the collection of raw cotton to 1,250,000 tons by increasing the cultivated area up to 620,000 hectares next year.

This year, it was planned to collect 1,050,000 tons of raw material from 550,000 hectares of land.

The increase in cotton production is carried out at the expense of lands previously allocated for winter wheat. All the raw cotton grown in Turkmenistan is processed domestically.

This year, private producers of agricultural products began to cultivate this crop on more than 25,500 hectares, receiving plots from the recently created special land fund.
