The cargoes worth $2.5 billion were transported by railway in Azerbaijan from January through October 2019, which is 5.7 percent more compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to the country's State Customs Committee.
The cargo transportation by railway in the country reached almost 6.1 million tons from January through October 2019, which is 13.6 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
Some 1.9 million tons of cargo (an increase of 5.5 percent) worth $568.8 million (a decrease of 10.4 percent) were exported by railway.
Some 4.3 million tons of cargo (an increase of 18.7 percent) worth $2 billion (an increase of 18.8 percent) were imported during the reporting period.
In general, during the reporting period, Azerbaijan's total trade turnover amounted to $28.2 billion. The country's export reached $16.8 billion, while import amounted to almost $11.4 billion.
