Copper ores and concentrates rank first in list of top export items in Georgia

Copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items in Georgia from January through October 2019, equaling $528.5 million or 17.4 percent of total exports, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The exports of motor cars totaled $522.5 million and their share in total exports amounted to 17.2 percent, while the ferro-alloys exports occupied the third place standing at $251.7 million and constituting 8.3 percent of the total exports.

From January through October 2019, the top import commodities were petroleum and petroleum oils; their imports equaled $616.2 million (8.4 percent of the total imports). The motor cars followed in the list with $529.5 million or 7.2 percent of imports, while the copper ores and concentrates were third in the top import commodity list with $497.5 million (6.8 percent of imports).

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $10.3 billion from January through October 2019, 0.5 percent higher year-on-year. The exports equaled $3 billion (growth by 10.4 percent), while the imports stood at $7.3 billion (decrease by 3.1 percent).
