Iran’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country’s industrial parks exported goods worth nearly $1.5 billion for from March 21 through October 7 this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), said Deputy Chairman of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO) Asghar Mosaheb, Trend reports referring to IRNA news agency.

Mosaheb said that this figure was $1.4 billion during the same period last Iranian year.

The deputy chairman added that the products were exported by 900 facilities located in industrial parks.

The goods worth $1.4 billion were exported in six Iranian months (March 21-September 22), which is a 30 percent increase over the same period last year, Mosaheb said.

“Due to export restrictions, the number of exporter companies has declined compared to the same period last year, but the exports volume has increased,” the deputy chairman noted.

Mosaheb said that products worth $320 million were exported to Iraq, $216 million to Afghanistan and $51 million to Pakistan, which were the top three export destination countries.

“Food products, household items, polymer, rubber and chemicals, carpets, leather and handbags were the main export products,” the deputy chairman added.

Mosaheb said that the organization provides assistance in export management and the establishment of export consortiums.

To date, 72 export consortiums and 65 export management companies have been established, the deputy chairman noted.

About 80,000 SMEs operate in Iran, and 43,000 of them are located in the industrial parks.
