ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Dec. 3

By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Over the past ten years, companies that are part of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) have invested about $5.5 billion in the country’s economy, and $2 billion of this volume - in the agricultural sector, Trend reports referring to the UIET.

The implementation of these projects made it possible to create about 200,000 new jobs, the report said.

The share of the non-state sector of the economy in the structure of the Turkmen gross domestic product, excluding the fuel and energy complex, amounted to 64 percent in 2018.

The UIET brings together over 20,000 businessmen and, according to local standards, they are allowed to create joint ventures with foreign partners by attracting their investments.

There are about 600 private enterprises in the Turkmen industry, including those producing building materials, textiles and carpets, chemicals, metal products, furniture, faience, glass products, as well as polyethylene and plastic products that are in demand in the domestic and foreign markets.

By the end ot the year, it is planned to transform firms engaged in the transport and communications industry into joint-stock companies.
