BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 3

By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

The first Uzbek-Turkish business forum in the field of healthcare and pharmaceuticals is being held in Uzbekistan’s capital of Tashkent from December 3 to 5, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

At the opening of the three-day business forum, Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koja stated that the Turkish Ministry of Health will open a Diagnostic Center in Tashkent and will appoint its health adviser in Uzbekistan in the near future.

“Turkey and Uzbekistan speak the same language and profess the same religion. Despite the fact that we live in different geographies, our peoples are connected by close bonds of brotherhood and throughout history have supported each other. The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkey in 2018 reached $1.8 billion, and in the near future we will approach the goal of $5 billion declared by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” Koja said.

The business forum is attended by heads and representatives of the ministries of health of the two countries, officials from different regions of Uzbekistan, representatives of medical tourism, pharmaceuticals, suppliers of medical equipment and entrepreneurs.

On the first day of the forum, 11 agreements were signed between Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The minister noted that about 80 Turkish companies working in the field of investment in healthcare, information systems, production of medical equipment and cosmetics, will gather together with their colleagues at the forum to contribute to the cooperation between the two countries.

With the Turkish Kanimed Saglik Cozumleri company, $30 million projects are being implemented to create laboratory diagnostic centers in Termez, Namangan, Andijan and Tashkent, as well as to build private hospitals for $70 million.

A modern laboratory center “Kani-Med” has recently opened in Termez, 30 jobs have been created, and about 300 types of laboratory tests are being conducted. At this medical institution, qualified medical workers from Turkey provide practical assistance in training local specialists and work directly in the center.

Also, active cooperation in the field of telemedicine, the organization of hemodialysis services and laboratory services on the basis of public-private partnerships is carried out with the Turkish company Alles Tek Group.
