Georgia sells a number of government facilities through auction

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 6

Since the launch of the state project "100 Investment Proposals for Business" last week, Georgian government has already sold real estate worth $2.7 million, said Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.

The minister added that the initial price of the assets were about $2 million. The auction website has already been visited by 15,000 persons.

Turnava said that the sold assets will be replaced by “new and interesting offers.”

According to her, more than 100 people have already registered for the purchase of objects through the auction.

The total initial value of the property sold at the auction is 150 million lari (more than $50.5 million). As a result of the project, 2,500 new jobs should be created. The expected investment will be approximately 200 million lari (more than $67.3 million).

Ministry of Economy and the National Agency of State Property offered local and international businesses 100 assets for privatization at the end of November.

Information on the property intended for privatization is available on the official website of the Georgian National Agency for State Property, where everyone can get acquainted with various investment offers and take part in an electronic auction.

The list of state-owned real estate objects includes industrial facilities, warehouses and farms, medical facilities, sports infrastructure, hotels and others.
