US technologies to improve irrigation efficiency in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan signed two new agreements with US Tyson Foods and Valmont Industries companies, Trend reports with reference to the press office of prime minister.

The agreements were signed during Mamin’s working trip to US.

Thus, following negotiations with the leadership of Tyson Foods, the largest meat producer in the US, an agreement on the implementation of the modern agro-multiprotein industry program in Kazakhstan was signed.

During the first stage of project’s implementation, the document provides for the construction of a modern meat processing complex of capacity of about 2,000 animals per day in Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, the enterprise will supply goods to local Kazakh market and to other countries, helping ensure the country's annual agricultural profit of over $1 billion. Tyson Foods is implementing a project in conjunction with Kazakh Kusto Group company.

"The enterprise will stimulate both the development of the meat industry, and of other related sectors: veterinary medicine, agricultural machinery, fodder crops, the creation of feedlots. The project will create thousands of new jobs in Kazakhstan’s agriculture,” Mamin said.

In turn, during Mamin’s visit to Omaha city, he met with the President of Valmont Industries (leader in irrigation systems) Stephen Kaniewski.

The parties talked prospects for cooperation and exchange of experience in applying high technologies for machine irrigation, telecommunications, renewable energy, infrastructure construction, as well as agricultural science and education.

Following the negotiations an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Kusto Group and Valmont Industries on the principles of effective irrigation and improving agricultural productivity in Kazakhstan.

The document oversees construction of the plant for production of Valley Pivot Irrigation Machines in Kazakhstan in 2022. The capacity of the plant will be 1,000 frontal and circular irrigation machines per year. The US irrigation technologies will increase crop productivity and reduce agricultural costs by 50 percent in Kazakhstan.

Expansion of enterprise’s production to manufacturing of equipment for telecommunications, renewable energy and infrastructure construction is planned in the future to the. Products manufactured in Kazakhstan will be supplied to both domestic and foreign markets.

Mamin also noted that Kazakhstan is planning to increase ​​irrigated land area from 1.4 million to 2 million hectares by 2022, and to three million hectares by 2030.
