Textile goods manufacturing up by over 20% in Kazakhstan

Volume of light industry manufacturing in Kazakhstan increased by 18.9 percent over 10 months of 2019, including increase of textile goods manufacturing by 23.7 percent and clothing by 7.5 percent, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration.

The trade turnover of light industry amounted to $1.3 billion during nine months of 2019, which is 14.5 percent more than during the same period of last year.

“At the same time, we are observing an export decrease by 23.7 percent ($73.9 million), whereas import increased by 18.1 percent ($1.2 billion),” the ministry said.

The main countries, which import goods of Kazakhstan’s light industry are China (39.4 percent), Russia (37.4 percent), Kyrgyzstan (5.2 percent), Italy (4.8 percent), Lithuania (4.4 percent), and Uzbekistan (1.5 percent).

“Currently, one of the key global trends in light industry development is the promotion of technology and innovation in environmentally friendly products manufacturing. This is why Kazakh government provides support to light industry development in the form of innovative grants,” the report said.

Furthermore, annually the government allocates funds on provision of service support.

“Thus, some 16 light industry companies received supported during 11 months of 2019. Costs incurred by enterprises for advertising, rental of premises, warehouses, certification are being refunded. Furthermore, the ministry refunds up to 50 percent of transport costs to Kazakh processed goods exporters,” the ministry said.

In addition, the ministry together with QazTrade company will launch an export acceleration program aimed at escorting enterprises from production to shelves in foreign countries in 2020.

“The target group of the program will be food and light industry ventures,” the ministry said.
