Georgia and Ukraine sign agreement to create high-level Strategic Council

Georgian Prime Minister Georgi Gakharia and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed an agreement on the establishment of a high-level Strategic Council, Trend reports citing the Georgian media outlets.

The agreement was signed within Gakharia's two-day official visit to Kyiv.

During the meeting between Gakharia and Zelensky, the parties emphasized the friendly relations between the peoples of Georgia and Ukraine, which should bring tangible results for both countries.

It was noted that signing the agreement testifies to willingness of the two states to raise relations to a higher level.

Prime Minister Gakharia and President Zelensky also discussed issues related to further deepening of future cooperation aimed at overcoming common challenges and at the Euro-Atlantic integration of the two countries.

The activities of the Strategic Council include four main areas: political, trade and economic, defense and security, and cultural and humanitarian. The working groups created in each field, will be led by the respective ministers, ensuring a high level of comprehensive bilateral dialogue.
