Turkmenistan has established export of plastic products to the CIS countries - Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen State Customs Service.
Recently, the local Turkmen Sohle company has sent the bulk of its plastic products to Belarus.
Turkmen entrepreneurs, along with providing the domestic market with food products, are exploring new areas of export of high-quality products, the report said.
In the first half of 2019 in Turkmenistan, the volume of imports of goods decreased by 19 percent, and exports increased by 12 percent.
In 2015, state programs were adopted in Turkmenistan to increase exports and create import-substituting industries.
There are plans to implement 33 projects as part of the program to increase export volumes of products manufactured in Turkmenistan. This includes creation of new industries aimed at the development of the chemical industry, light industry, machine engineering, agriculture and food industry, as well as domestic pharmaceuticals.
Implementation of 81 projects is envisaged as part of the program for the manufacture of import-substituting products. Within its framework, construction, chemical, household and other production facilities will be built based on local raw materials. In addition, there are plans to build facilities for the processing and manufacture of various types of meat and dairy products, fruits and vegetables, as well as fish products.
The program was adopted with the aim of forming import-substituting industries, strengthening the positive balance of foreign trade, creating new jobs and increasing the share of the private sector of the economy.
According to the report of British Petroleum (BP), Turkmenistan ranks fourth in terms of natural gas reserves in the world. Presently, Turkmenistan sells gas to China and Russia.
The textile and oil products industries have advanced, the oil and gas chemical industries and the building materials industry are actively developing.
