Kazakhstan to manufacture electric wheelchairs via its own technology

Kazakhstan’s Tynys plant (subsidiary of Kazakhstan Engineering National Company) will launch manufacturing of electric wheelchairs for people with disabilities, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

In order to implement the project, an agreement with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population was signed. According to the Ministry’s order some 1,374 wheelchairs will be supplied annually.

The manufactured wheelchairs will be of own development of Tynys plant’s engineers.

The manufacturing capacity of the plant will be 2,700 units a year, whereas the investments value will be 173.3 million tenge ($452,713).

Previously, due to the absence of wheelchair manufacturers in Kazakhstan, the goods were imported from Russia, China and European countries.

“This project is aimed at improving efficiency of meeting the needs of people with disabilities with special means of transportation,” the ministry said.

In addition, the possibility to expand the list and increase share of civil goods in volume of defense industry complex will be created.
