New livestock farm opens in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 26

A new livestock farm of White Farm LLC has opened in the Kakheti region of Georgia, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.

Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili visited the livestock farm and was familiarized with the working process.

According to the minister, that the farm is one of the best in Georgia.

Davitashvili said that all food safety and cattle breeding standards are met here.

"This is a clear example of the important outcomes of the government programs and it will help us to improve the competitiveness of the country in cattle breeding," Davitashvili said.

The farm was built within the government-financed ''Unified AgroProject'' program. About 15.2 million lari ($5.3 million) investment was made in this project, and out of this amount, 1.5 million lari ($523,631) was provided by the government.

The White Farm will produces 10 tons of raw milk of the first category a day. About 35 local residents are employed on the farm. The product is to be sold across the local market.

As reported, creation of 212 new enterprises have been sponsored by Georgian government since 2013. A total of 74 new enterprises were established with the government financial support in the Kakheti region.
