Launch of 25 dairy farms with 105,000 tons of milk a year capacity, 11 new meat and poultry farms is planned in Kazakhstan within 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s ministry of Agriculture.

The establishment of apple gardens on territory of 2,000 ha is also planned, construction of sugar plants of 200,000 tons a year capacity was already started, modernization of three existing sugar plants will be carried out.

Area of irrigated land will also be expanded, including by 45,000 ha for fodder crops, and by 15,000 ha for vegetables. Area for oil crops and beans will also be expanded.

All these measures are to be implemented in order to reach import substitution of agricultural goods on local market over the course of next four years.

Currently Kazakh manufacturers of agriculture goods meet the local demand by 80 percent and more, whereas supply for types of goods exceeds the demand.

“These measures will allow to decrease the total volume of agricultural goods import to 31.2 percent from current 36.2 percent, and to completely saturate the local market with agricultural goods of local production by 2024,” the report said.
