Iran's steel export increases by 25%

TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.7

Iran statistics indicate that the steel export during the past nine months of the current Iranian year (began March 21,2019) has reached 5.8 million tons, which is a 25-percent increase compared to the preceding Iranian year (began March 21, 2018).

Bonab Steel Industry Complex had the most increase in export of rebar during this period, while Oxin Steel Company had the lowest export, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to the statistics, during past nine months of the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), about 5.6 million tons of steel ingots have been exported.

Iran's steel industry has exported 3.5 million tons of billet and bloom ingots - a 54-percent compared to last year, while export of slab ingots increased 12 percent year on year.

The export volume of sponge iron during the past nine months of the current Iranian year stood at about 823,000 tons - a 91-percent growth compared to last year.

Export of hot and cold rolled steel sheets stood at 654,000 tons (a 4-percent drop since last year).

According to the statistics, a 27-percent increase of steel production was observed in the country in the current year, while imports continue to decline. Iran has imported some 3,000 tons of ingots and 392,000 tons of steel products (a 89 and 46-percent drop respectively, compared to the preceding Iranian year).
