In September 2020, the Georgian honey company Geonatural plans to export 20 tons of honey to Germany, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

According to the director of the company Georgi Iashvili, honey was first exported to the German market last year, and negotiations are underway with other countries.

“In 2019, we exported in total four tons of honey to Germany. An agreement regarding the export of honey in 2020 to Germany has already been reached, and by September 15 tons of honey will be exported to Germany,” he said.

According to Iashvili, the company currently exports two types of premium honey.

“This year we will export 15 tons of honey to France, 5 tons of honey to the UK, and there is a fairly high demand in the Netherlands,” Iashvili said.

As he noted, there is a high demand for high-quality honey in the EU countries, and the price of 1 kg of Georgian honey is 20 euros.

In 2019, honey production in Georgia increased by 35 percent compared to 2018.
