USAID to launch project on development of entrepreneurship in Turkmenistan

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will officially launch the project on the development of entrepreneurship and business environment in Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the US Embassy in Ashgabat.
Through this program, USAID will support Turkmen enterprises in creating new jobs, improving the competencies of employees, increasing sales and exports in targeted sectors of the economy, including information and communication technologies, food processing, carpet weaving, leather and handicraft.
USAID will help sustainable, leading companies and organizations to develop long-term strategies to achieve their goals through bilateral cooperation and co-financing of projects.
“We want to not only unite Turkmen companies and help them build business relations with Central Asian partners, but to go further and develop cooperation with American and international companies to establish long-term relationships with them and attract investment,” US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew S. Klimow said.
At an event dedicated to this project, participants discussed approaches and project implementation methods that assume the use of innovative solutions to attract investment and ensure growth in sales and export volumes in targeted sectors of the economy.
Issues of staff development and competence, which will be addressed through trainings organized by USAID for women and youth was also the subject of discussion.
