Number of operating enterprises in Uzbekistan rapidly increasing

As of February 1, 2020, the number of industrial enterprises and organizations made up 7,500 units, having increased by 21.2 percent compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the main factor of growth in the number of industrial enterprises and organizations was the increase in production in the manufacturing industry - by 21.2 percent, mining and quarrying - 27.4 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - 19.8 percent, and water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal - 5.2 percent.

As of February 1, 2020, the number of enterprises and organizations in the construction sector amounted to 36,800 and increased by 22.1 percent compared to the same period in 2019. The main factor behind the growth in the number of construction enterprises and organizations was the increase in specialized work - by 23.9 percent (30.5 percent of the total), in the construction of civil facilities and organizations - by 12.3 percent (8.6 percent of the total), in the construction of buildings and structures - by 22.7 percent (60.9 percent of the total).

The statistics show that the number of enterprises and organizations in the area of housing and catering services stood at 26,200 and increased by 27.6 percent as compared to the same period last year.

Number of enterprises and organizations in the field of information and communication made up 8,000 units, having increased by 13.5 percent in February 2020, compared to the same period last year.

According to the statistics, the main factor behind the growth in the number of enterprises and organizations in the field of information and communication is the increase of film production, television programs, as well as sound recording, which, compared to the previous year, increased by 6.9 percent (6.2 per cent of the total), the share of information services, compared to last year, increased by 20.1 percent (14.8 percent of the total), publishing services by 13 percent (15 percent of the total), computer programming services increased by 18.5 percent (30.3 percent of the total), and communication services reached 9.1 percent (30.6 percent of the total).

Over the reporting period, the number of operating family businesses reached 28,600, an increase of 1,900 units or 1.7 times. The number of newly established family enterprises in January 2020 was 1,200, an increased on 34 units or 2.8 percent, and compared to the same period in 2019.

As of February 1, 2020, the number of registered limited liability companies reached 235,900, an increased on 5,200 or 27.7 percent, compared to 2019.

The number of operating companies is 224,400, which is 46,800 or 26.4 percent more, than in 2019.

As of 1 February 2020, the number of enterprises with foreign capital participation amounted to 11,000, of which 10,600, or 96.1 percent, are operating. This figure represents an increase of 3,000 units, or 37 percent, compared to the same period last year.

In January 2020, 255 units of enterprises with the participation of foreign capital were established in Uzbekistan.
