By Fidan Babayeva – Trend:
Currently, the largest increase in exports is observed in the field of paper and plastic packaging, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Association of Packaging Industry Kamran Hajizade told Trend.
Hajizade said that the organization includes more than 60 packaging manufacturing companies from all over the country. The association is the main supplier of water producers such as Barjomi, Natakhtari in the region.
“Since 2018, we began to actively enter regional markets. Azerbaijan's packaging enterprises began opening their branches and subsidiaries in CIS, in particular, Georgia and Kazakhstan,” Hajizade added.
The chairman of the association emphasized that a large share of exports in 2019 accounted for Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
“We are not going to stop here, and in 2020 export sales to Uzbekistan is planned. In 2019, Uzbekistan showed interest in importing packaging products from Azerbaijan and is ready to provide preferential investment conditions for packaging enterprises. Georgia is also interested in increasing the export volume of these products in 2020,” the chairman added.
“One of our tasks today is to expand activities in the regions of Azerbaijan. Almost every company annually purchases and installs new equipment for the production of packages. This is a positive factor for improving the regional economy,” Hajizade noted.
“We annually participate in events, exhibitions and forums aimed at economic development. It is planned to build factories for the production of metal and paper packaging, the demand for which is growing every year,” the chairman said.
The Association of Packaging Industry was established in 2017 and includes enterprises for the production of paper, cardboard, metal packaging, containers made of hard and soft plastic and glass. The association is the main regional supplier of water producers.
