Sunflower sown area in Azerbaijan significantly grows

The total cultivated area in Azerbaijan decreased by 1.2 percent last year compared to 2018, amounting to 1.7 million hectares, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan’s Agriculture Ministry.

The sown area of ​​grains and legumes decreased by 0.9 percent and amounted to 1.1 million hectares. At the same time, the share of grains and legumes accounted for 62.5 percent of the total crops’ volume.

Last year, the sown area of ​​industrial crops decreased by 18.2 percent compared to the previous year. The sown area of ​​cotton decreased by 24.5 percent, sugar beet - by 14.2 percent, tobacco - by 8 percent.

At the same time, sunflower sown area increased by 43.1 percent.
