Most of package materials produced in Azerbaijan in 2019 were exported to Georgia, Kazakhstan and Russia, Chairman of Azerbaijani Association of Packaging Industry Kamran Hajizade told Trend.
According to the chairman, last year, the income from export of package materials abroad made up $450,000. He added that in 2020, the supplies to Uzbekistan are also planned.
"From 2017, the export volume has been steadily growing by 20-30 percent every year. If ten years ago Azerbaijan imported 80 percent of the package materials from abroad, and today, 85 percent of the materials covering the domestic demand are produced by ourselves," he said.
In 2019, the volume of package materials export to the regional markets made up 290 tons. The package enterprises of Azerbaijan began opening their branches and affiliate enterprises in Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries, added Hajizade.
He said that it’s planned to build and launch the next production enterprise later this year.
"The Association includes over 60 local enterprises producing the package materials," added Hajizade.
The Association of Packaging Industry was founded in 2017 and includes the enterprises producing paper, cardboard, iron packages as well as packaging materials made from plastics and glass.
