Uzbekistan, Turkey to expand co-op in industrial sphere

First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Islam Zhasimov met with a delegation from Istanbul Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association, headed by Tahsin Oztiryaki, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of investment by Turkish partners in the economy of Uzbekistan, as well as further expansion of trade and economic relations and the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in financial, technical, scientific, educational, innovation and tourism sectors.

This meeting held with the participation of representatives of business circles of Uzbekistan, was also attended by over 30 businessmen from Turkey.

Turkey is one of the largest trade partners of Uzbekistan.

Last year's trade turnover between the two countries reached $2.3 billion.

Uzbekistan conducts trade relations with more than 129 countries in the world. The largest volume of its foreign trade turnover among them is recorded with China (17.5 percent), the Russia (16 percent), Kazakhstan (7.4 percent), Korea (6.5 percent), Turkey (5.7 percent), Afghanistan (1.7 percent) and Germany (1.6 percent).

Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover reached $2.94 billion in January 2020.
