Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo in Iranian ports increases

From the beginning of this Iranian year up till now (March 21, 2019 - Feb. 29, 2020), the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Iranian ports has reached 138.1 million tons, Trend reports referring to Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Iranian ports has increased by 5.5 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year. During the same period of last Iranian year, 130.9 million tons were loaded and unloaded, according to the report.

The cargoes were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 42.4 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded. This is an increase of 2.8 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (41.2 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 1.8 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease by 14 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (over 2 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 20.9 million tons, which is 4.9 percent less than in the same period of last Iranian year (21.9 million tons).

The general cargo volume was 18.7 million tons. This is an increase by 4.6 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (17.9 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume was 51.4 million tons. This is an increase of 14.3 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (over 45 million tons).

Liquid bulk cargo was 4.7 million tons. This is 1.5 percent less than in the same period of last Iranian year (4.8 million tons).
