External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $1.85 billion in January-February 2020, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Statistical Service (Geostat).
As reported, this is 6.1 percent higher year-on-year.
The value of export increased by 4.5 percent reaching $526.3 million, while the import increased by 6.8 percent and amounted to $1.32 billion. The trade deficit equaled $802.5 million and its share in trade turnover constituted 43.3 percent.
Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $882.4 million in January 2020, which is an increase of 5.7 percent compared to the same period of last year.
As reported, the exports equaled $262.6 million (10 percent higher), while the imports stood at $619.8 million (4 percent higher). The negative trade balance was $357.2 million in January 2020 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.5 percent.
In January 2020 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 82.8 percent. The top partners were China ($44.4 million), Azerbaijan ($44 million) and Russia ($33.4 million).
