Turkmenistan's stockbreeders implement plan to increase livestock

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1

Trend:

Stockbreeders of the Akhal velayat (province) in Turkmenistan implement a plan on increasing livestock in the country, Trend reports with reference to Neytralni Turkmenistan newspaper.

Shepherds received more than 120 thousand lambs and goats and more than two thousand baby camels, said the report.

The reason of a good offspring was transferring animals to stable keeping and providing animals with variety of feeds. Shepherds feed them with alfalfa, straw, camel's-thorn.

The breeding season isn’t over yet and the number shepherds involved in this activity is growing. They can use heated sheep-folds, enclosures and all the necessary food reserves, said the report.

All the animals are under vets’ control, while the stockbreeder’s duty is organized in the places where those animals are kept.

Turkmenistan breeds pigs, birds, horses and camels as well as large and small cattle.

The country's private sector does not have large livestock production facilities, and the livestock and poultry are primarily kept on home-stand land.
