Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo in Shahid Bahonar port of Iran increases

The volume of loaded, unloaded oil and non-oil products cargo at the Shahid Bahonar port of Hormozgan province in southern Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020) increased by 28 percent, compared to the year before last (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), said Director of Hormozgan Sahid Bahonar Ports and Maritime Organization Hamidreza Mohammad Hosseini said,Trend reports citing official website of (PMO).

According to Hosseini, about 2.08 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Bahonar port last Iranian year.

Hosseini added that as many as 1.15 million tons of non-oil products were exported and 69,200 tons were imported through the port.

The director said the exported products were mainly chemicals, bitumen, construction materials and etc.

The official added that more than 59,400 tons of containers were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Bahonar port last Iranian year. This figure increased by 37 percent compared to last year (43.400 tons).

"As many as 10,800 ships docked at the port of Shahid Bahonar last Iranian year. There is 26 percent increase in this area as well,” he said.

Hosseini said that Shahid Bahonar port is one of the sea terminals in the transit corridor for Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iraq.
