Turkmenistan, Russia's Tatarstan talk shipbuilding, aim for development of merchant fleet

Turkmenistan and Russia's Tatarstan Republic have discussed the construction of various types of ships aimed at the development of merchant fleet, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The discussions were held via a videoconference format on April 6, 2020.

Turkmenistan’s side highlighted that their main priority is construction of dry cargo ships. Turkmenistan needs it because of acceleration of dry cargo shipments. Representatives of Tatarstan said that they are ready to expand the cooperation in this area. The question of funding was also discussed.

From the Turkmen side the representatives of the Turkmenseariverways agency, heads and specialists of the Turkmenbashy International Seaport, Balkan shipbuilding and constructing facilities public corporation participated at the meeting.

Tatarstan was represented by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, Chief Executive Officer and staff members of Ak Bars shipbuilding company. Heads and representatives of the Zelenodolsk factory named after Maxim Gorky corporation participated at the session.
