Production of Iran's Sangan mining complex to increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7

The production capacity of iron ore granules of the Sangan Iron ore Complex which is located at the Razavi Khorasani province in northwestern Iran will increase to 1.8 million tons in the current Iranian year (starting from March 21, 2020), said Managing Director of Sangan Iron ore Complex Ali Hemmati, Trend reports citing official website of the complex.

According to Hemmati, production of iron ore granules of complex is expected to reach 1.3 million tons in the current Iranian year.

Hemmati added that with the launch of 4 contractors company, the plant will create about 250 jobs.

He said iIt is planned that 12.6 million tons out of 15.2 million tons of ore extracted from the mines of the complex will be sent to a number of companies. Sangan Opal Parsian Company, Sanabad Mine and Industrial Development Company and Sangan Steel Company are among these companies.

Hemmati said that it is planned to conduct 7,000 meters of exploratory excavations in the mining area of the complex in current Iranian year.

The mines of the Sangan iron ore complex is one of the ten largest iron ore mines in the world with a total reserve of 1 billion tons. These mines provide raw materials for the production of 17.5 million tons of concentrate and 15 million tons of iron ore granules.
