By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

The decline in wheat stocks on the world market is not alarming news for Georgia, Chairman of the Wheat Association of Georgia Levan Silagava said, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

According to him, at the moment, there is a sufficient supply of wheat in Georgia, and there are no problems in this regard in the Georgian market.

In addition, Silagava said, Georgia is working with American partners regarding wheat supplies.

“The government and the private sector are negotiating with the United States to import 30,000 tons of wheat into Georgia. This may take about a month,” said Silagava.

According to the forecast of international experts, world grain stocks at the end of the 2020 season, compared with the beginning of the season, will decline by 8 million tons. As a result of this, the ratio of reserves to consumption in the world will decrease to 30.7 percent.
