Iranian President talks priorities in agriculture sector

TEHRAN, Iran, April 9

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has outlined 34 general and specialized priority issues in his order to the newly appointed agriculture minister.

Kazem Khavazi should provide operational plans based on the announced priorities in next two months, stated the presidential order, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran's Plan and Budget Organization is obligated to provide a report every six months to evaluate changes and implementation of presidential priorities in the agriculture sector.

The agriculture ministry shall focus on improving the administrative system, financial transparency, ensuring better access to information, equal chances, protecting public properties, following rules in all activities, and protecting the environment, the order said.

Creating a competitive climate, implementing electronic government in management, employing more representatives of youth, women and minorities in management and avoiding nepotism are also listed among priority steps.

The document requires confronting corruption, applying an innovative approach to fight sanctions and developing cooperation with the National Headquarters to Fight Coronavirus.

In addition, management of consumption water in agriculture, increasing sustainability in producing products by cooperation with the ministry of energy, using new technologies by expanding knowledge-based companies, reducing the role of government in purchase guarantee of agriculture products and providing food security should be also among the ministry's priorities.
