Economic growth in Kazakhstan's industry forecast to drop

The volume of oil extraction in Kazakhstan is forecast to be 86 million tons in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the reconsidered forecast of socio-economic development of Kazakhstan for 2020-2024 of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of National Economy.

The previous forecast said that the extraction volume in Kazakhstan will be 90 million tons in 2020.

The reconsidered forecast said that Kazakhstan’s GDP value will be 69.7 trillion tenge in 2020 (compared to 74.5 trillion tenge forecast previously) or $158.4 billion based on the current exchange rate ($196.1 billion previously).

Real GDP change is forecast to be minus 0.9 percent compared to previously forecast growth by 4.1 percent.

Growth in agriculture is forecast to be 3.2 percent compared to 8 percent forecast previously, and 1.1 percent in construction compared to 3.8 percent previously.

Decrease is forecast in industry by 2.9 percent compared to previously forecast growth by 3.1 percent. Decrease is also expected in mining industry by 4.5 percent (compared to 2.1 percent growth), in processing industry by 1.1 percent (compared to 4.7 growth), in transport and storage by 1 percent (compared to 3.2 percent growth).

The ministry’s forecast will be 9-11 percent in 2020 compared to previously forecast 4-6 percent.

Country’s state debt will be 20 trillion tenge ($46.2 billion) as of the end of 2020 compared to previously forecast 18.2 trillion tenge ($42 billion).
