Retail trade volume increases in Kazakhstan

The value of the retail trade in Kazakhstan has amounted to 2.3 trillion tenge (approximately $5.5 billion) during 1Q2020, which is 0.8 percent more compared to 1Q2019, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

According to the data, the largest percentage in the total retail trade turnover accounts for individual entrepreneurs (39.3 percent) in 1Q2020.

It is followed by small businesses (28.6 percent) and large businesses (22.3 percent). The least amount of retail trade turnover accounts for medium businesses (9.8 percent).

The largest share of the retail trade accounts for Almaty city. Some 31.9 percent of the total trade turnover accounts for this city and the value of trade turnover here has increased by 0.1 percent during the reporting period compared to 1Q2019.

The major part of the retail trade turnover accounts for Nur-Sultan city (10.2 percent; volume decreased by 7.4 percent), Karaganda region (9.9 percent; volume increased by 3.6 percent) and East Kazakhstan region (9 percent; increase by 3.1 percent).
