Foreign trade turnover decreases in Uzbekistan

Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan decreased by 10.2 percent to $8.14 billion in the period from January through March 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

In particular, Uzbekistan's exports decreased by 10.9 percent to $3.37 billion, and imports by 9.7 percent to $4.77 billion, while the foreign trade deficit of the country decreased by 6.5 percent to $1.39 million.

Gold accounted for the largest share of Uzbek exports - over $1 billion (decrease by 18.3 percent), industrial goods - $631.6 million (decrease by four percent), services - $628.7 million (decrease by 6.7 percent), energy and oil products - $305.4 million (decrease by 15.6 percent).

In the structure of imports, the largest share remains on purchases of machinery and transport equipment - $1.76 billion (decrease by 13.4 percent), industrial goods - $766.8 million (decrease by 14.9 percent), chemical products - $587.3 million (increase by 3.8 percent) and services - $454.8 million (decrease by 6.3 percent).

The main foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2020 were Russia - 16.9 percent of the country's foreign trade (against 16.8 percent in the first quarter of 2019), China - 16.8 percent (21.2 percent), Kazakhstan - 8.3 percent (8.9 percent), South Korea - 6.7 percent (7.9 percent) and Turkey - 5.8 percent (5.8 percent).
