IMF reviews Turkmenistan’s measures to reduce impact of global crisis

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reviewed measures applied by Turkmenistan to reduce the negative impact of the global crisis on the country caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

This subject was discussed during a videoconference hosted by the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.

The participants discussed key economic issues of mutual interest, the risks to the economy both in Turkmenistan and around the world and the ways to develop the economy. They also exchanged views on the development of economic integration.

The Turkmen's side was represented by high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Central Bank. Ministers of finance and economy of the countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia also attended the videoconference.

Turkmenistan became a member of IMF in September 1992. The International Monetary Fund is a partner of Turkmenistan in economic reform and provides technical assistance to support ongoing changes of macroeconomic significance.

According to the IMF forecasts for 2020, Turkmenistan’s economy will grow by 6 percent, while inflation will reach 13 percent.
