Iran reveals volume of loaded, unloaded cargo at Yazd railway

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo reached 1.7 million tons at the railway stations of Yazd province in central Iran in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 19, 2020), said Director General of Yazd Railway Department Mostafa Davoudi, Trend reports citing department’s website.

According to Davoudi, the loaded and unloaded cargo included mainly mining items.

Davoudi added that part of 1.21 million tons of mining items including concentrate and granular were transported by 15,600 wagons to Isfahan and Khuzestan steel processing plants for production, while other some parts were sent to the Bandar Abbas port of Hormozgan province in southern Iran for export.

The official said that 482,000 tons of iron ore, concentrate, wheat and other products were unloaded in the warehouses of the department last month.

There are about 7,000 kilometers of railways in Iran's Yazd province, which comprises about 7 percent of Iran's railways.

More than 80 percent of mining items and 70 percent of transit cargo are transported through Iran's Yazd province.
