Iran discloses amount of exported eggs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10

About 6,500 tons of chicken eggs have been exported from Iran in the current Iranian year (starting from March 20, 2020) to date, said Head of the Tehran Chicken and Egg Association Naser Nabipour, Trend reports citing Young Journalist Club (YJC).

According to Nabipour, it is forecasted that 60,000 tons of chicken eggs will be exported from Iran by the end of this year.

Nabipour added that 40,000 tons of chicken eggs were exported from Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

The official said that Iran produces 90,000 tons of chicken eggs a month.

"Given that per capita consumption in Iran is 12 kilograms per year, in addition to the country's consumption, at least 200,000 tons of eggs are produced," he said.

Nabipour said that at present, each kilogram of chicken eggs on a poultry farm costs 70,000 rials (about $1.66). In general, each kilogram of eggs in the markets in Iran costs 110,000-120,000 rials (about $2.61-$2.85).
