Iran to provide loans to guilds to compensate losses

TEHRAN, Iran, May 11
Trend:

Iranian government plans to provide loans to guilds with three months delay in payment, said the representative of Industry, Mine and Trade Minister.

Ebrahim Dorosti, has discussed the measures taken to compensate businesses in the country that were affected by coronavirus spread in an interview with Trend.

"It has been announced that apart from 13 businesses, employers in 58 guilds will receive 160 million rial (about $3,800) loan for each person with 12-percent interest rate that can be paid after three months," Dorosti, said.

"Iran lives under sanctions, while the oil price has dropped sharply, so to the economic situation is difficult; however, hopefully it would compensate part of losses in various guilds, as some of them close to bankruptcy," the minister added. "The loans will be paid by the end of week so it can help the employers, since they have been cooperating with the government."

"There have been negotiations with the Social Security Organization (SSO), and it was agreed that employers should at least be exempted from paying its share of insurance fee for workers to keep the workers with less financial pressures," he added.

" In this regard, the government will also face fewer challenges, which would occur if the workers are dismissed from jobs, as the Social Security Organization should provide unemployment subsidies," he said.
