Turkmenistan, Russia interested in deepening economic cooperation

Turkmenistan and Russia have discussed intensification of relations in the framework of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation and previously outlined directions for expanding bilateral trade and economic ties, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The issue was discussed during a telephone call of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russia, Co-chairman of the commission from the Russian side Alexei Overchuk on May 13, 2020.

The parties also discussed interaction of the two countries to combat the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The co-chairmen considered steps for the implementation of the agreements discussed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Russia Vladimir Putin during a telephone call on May 12, 2020. The heads of state also stressed the importance of deepening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
