Georgia's export of wine of fresh grapes to Russia drops

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19

Georgia exported 37,855 tons of wine of fresh grapes to Russia in a total amount of $36.8 million from January through April 2020, which is 8,311 tons less compared to January-April 2019, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

In the reporting period, Georgia exported 10,860 tons of ferroalloys worth $32.6 million to Russia, having decreased the export of ferroalloys by 2,228 tons. Over the same period last year, 13,08 tons of ferroalloy totaling $40.2 million were exported from Georgia to Russia.

Meanwhile, 27,329 tons of natural, mineral and aerated waters not containing added sugar, worth $15.8 million were exported from Georgia to Russia. This is 1,955 tons less compared to the same period of 2019.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported 2,065 tons of spirituous beverages in the amount of $9.80 million to Russia. During January-April 2019, export of spirituous beverages from Georgia to Russia amounted to 2,048 tons totaling $9.7 million.

As reported, Georgia exported 806 units of motor cars worth $4.1 million to Russia.

Russia ranked second in Georgia’s commodity circulation during the reporting period.

From January through April 2020, the foreign trade turnover between Georgia and Russia exceeded $395.72 million, which comprises 11.4 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported products worth $125.60 million to the Russian market, which is 12.5 percent of total exports.

Meanwhile, Russian exported products worth $270.12 million to the Georgian market, which is 11 percent of total imports to Georgia.
