Exports of knitwear from Georgia to Turkey down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19

Georgia exported 383.8 tons of knitted goods to Turkey for a total amount of $11.2 million from January through April 2020, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

On an annualized basis, Georgia reduced the export of knitwear by 245.4 tons. During the same period of last year, 629.2 tons of knitted goods totaling $14.5 million were exported from Georgia to Turkey.

Georgia exported 170.2 tons of men's or boys' suits, ensembles, trousers, knitted or crocheted, to Turkey for a total amount of $4.1 million from January through April 2020, which is 40 tons less compared to the same period last year.

In turn, from January through April 2020, Georgia imported 423.9 tons of other made up articles, including dress patterns from Turkey for a total amount of $10.5 million.

On an annualized basis, Georgia decreased the import of other made up articles, including dress patterns from Turkey by $289.2 tons. From January through April 2019, 713.1 tons of other made up articles, including dress patterns were imported by Georgia from Turkey for a total of $11.6 million.

Turkey ranks first in Georgia’s commodity circulation in the reporting period.

From January through April 2020, total imports from Turkey to Georgia amounted to $406.02 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $63.27 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in the reporting period exceeded $469.3 million, which is 13.5 percent of Georgia's total trade turnover.
