Turkmenistan aims for innovations in agriculture with help of CIS Coordinating Council

Turkmenistan and Deputy Chairman of the Intergovernmental Coordinating Council on Seed Production of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Ivan Kuzmin have discussed cooperation in the agricultural sector, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The discussions were organized in the context of partnership with agricultural scientists from leading scientific institutions to exchange experience in this field, which Turkmenistan pays special attention to.

Changes are being made to strengthen the country's food security and export potential in the agro-industrial sector of Turkmenistan.

The country pays great attention to introduction of modern technologies in order to increase crop yields, as well as to enhance international cooperation in this direction.

The partnership of Turkmenistan with the Intergovernmental Coordinating Council on Seed Production of the CIS opens up new opportunities for innovation in this area. In this context, the interaction with relevant research institutes of Russia was considered.

Cultivation of high-yielding varieties of wheat, potatoes and other crops was identified as a priority area for the exchange of experience.
