France eyes to enhance cooperation with Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The cooperation prospects were discussed during a videoconference between the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the France-Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce on June 16, 2020.
The sides discussed trade and economic relations between the two countries, as well as ways to expand the cooperation between their business circles. In particular, the parties expressed their readiness to consider the cooperation in such areas as direct investment, joint ventures, project and structural financing. The possibility of expanding the cooperation in such priority areas as trade, oil and gas was also noted.
In addition, the participants considered the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the economic relations of countries worldwide. In this regard, the parties highlighted a number of measures taken in Turkmenistan in order to mitigate the impact of the global pandemic on the national production sectors of the economy, preserve jobs and protect vulnerable groups of the population.
The importance of holding regular meetings of the Turkmen-French Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was stressed at an earlier meeting between officials of the two countries.
