Hazelnut processing plant commissioned in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1

New hazelnut processing plant has been commissioned in the village of Tela in Georgian Lagodekhi municipality, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

The construction of the plant of Georgian Agritrade LLC was possible thanks to the support of the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and the Georgian Hazelnut Sector Development Project in Georgia.

More than 900,000 lari ($295,553) was invested in the enterprise, of which about 500,000 lari ($164,196) is a preferential agricultural loan. The plant employs 16 people.

The company will serve about 200 farmers annually, said the report.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputies Minister of Agriculture Georgi Khanishvili and Khatia Tsilosani and Director of the USAID Mission in Georgia Peter Wiebler.
