Turkmenistan expands range of cooperation with other CIS countries

Turkmenistan has signed a number of documents on cooperation in various areas with other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The documents were signed during 86th meeting of the Economic Council of CIS states, which was held via a videoconference on June 30, 2020. The Turkmen side was represented by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Muhammetgeldi Serdarov.

In particular, the CIS member states signed the Strategy for ensuring transport security in the territories of the member states of the CIS when carrying out international traffic for the period from 2020 through 2025, and the Concept of Cooperation between the member states in the field of combating cancer diseases from 2020 through 2024.

The parties also discussed the directions for the cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the ministry said.

In addition, issues related to the implementation of the Concept of formation and development of the intellectual property market of the CIS countries, approved by the decision of the Council of the Heads of Government of the CIS on October 28, 2016, were considered.

During the videoconference, the participants discussed socio-economic situation of the CIS member states, as well as the impact of coronavirus on this situation and measures to minimize the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date, no cases of coronavirus infection cases have been reported in Turkmenistan.
