Prices of food increased by 7.3 percent in Jun. 2020 compared to Dec. 2019 and by 11.1 percent compared to Jun. 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
In turn, the prices of non-food items increased by 2.3 percent compared to Dec. 2019 and by 5.4 percent compared to Jun. 2019. Prices of paid services increased by 1.4 percent compared to Dec. 2019 and by 3 percent compared to Jun. 2019.
Compared to Dec. 2019, the price increase was observed on fruit by 21.2 percent, vegetables by 15.6 percent, cereals by 14.6 percent, granulated sugar by 10.6 percent, pasta by 9.3 percent, butter by 8.9 percent, flour by 8.8 percent, hard curd cheese by 7.3 percent, tea by 5.9 percent, bakery and flour products by 4.6 percent, pasteurized milk by 4.5 percent, sour-milk products by 3.7 percent, bread by 3.4 percent, and cottage cheese by 3.3 percent.
Talking meat types, prices of lamb increased by 10.7 percent, meat products by 8.5 percent, horse meat by 8.2 percent, beef by 7.4 percent, pork by 5.5 percent, sausages by 5.4 percent, and frozen fish by 6.1 percent.
Mineral and drinking water went up by 6.8 percent, tobacco products by 5.4 percent, soft drinks by 4 percent. Egg prices fell by 3.6 percent, rice by 2.7 percent, and millet by 2.4 percent.
Increase in prices for detergents and cleaners amounted to 5.8 percent, medicine by 5.6 percent, personal goods by 5.3 percent, household appliances by 4.3 percent, cars by 3.9 percent, construction materials by 3.6 percent. Gasoline increased in price by 2.8 percent, while diesel fuel price dropped by 3 percent.
