Raw milk prices increase in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3

By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

In Georgia, the price of raw milk produced by households and commercial extensive farms continues to rise year on year, Trend reports with reference to Georgiandairy information and analytical resource.

In addition, the difference between the average prices of these two groups is unprecedentedly high, which is a signal that the need for large manufacturers and efficient production is growing on the market, said the report.

As reported, amid high inflation in the country, milk producers are forced to raise prices for their products or leave the market.

Households sell raw milk at 80 tetri (26 cents) per kg, and commercial extensive farms - for 1 lari (33 cents). Reportedly, such high prices are unprecedented at this time of the year.

“Compared to last year, raw milk went up in price in both groups: in households - by 5 percent, and at commercial extensive farms - by 13 percent,” the report said.
