Turkmenistan issues preferential loan to entrepreneurs for sheep purchase

Entrepreneurs from the Lebap region of Turkmenistan were issued a preferential loan for the purchase of pedigreed sheep, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal Information Portal.

According to the entrepreneurs, the weight of three-month-old lambs varies from 25 to 30 kilograms, of sheep - up to 75 kilograms, and of rams ranges from 80 to 90 kilograms.

Turkmen banks issue long-term 5-percent preferential loans to individual entrepreneurs and tenants, as well as to private enterprises and farms in line with the decree of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on state support for small and medium-sized businesses.

Last year, Turkmen Sahabatly company signed a contract with Austrian farmers for the purchase of 400 heads of Holstein cattle last year.

The company, which is the major producer of dairy products in the country, has livestock in the Gokdepe district of the Ahal region of Turkmenistan.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, fruit and vegetable.
