BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
International experts in the field of economics have praised Georgia’s fiscal policy during the pandemic, calling it correct and prompt, Trend reports with reference to the Government’s press office.
They made this remark during a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Georgi Gakharia in the government administration.
The experts working on Georgia’s post-crisis economic plan arrived in Georgia on July 8.
They noted that the Georgian government’s steps towards supporting citizens and businesses affected by the pandemic are in line with the world’s best practices. The experts recommended Georgia to continue its ongoing reforms and work on the development of even more effective mechanisms to support the private sector.
While discussing taxes in Georgia, experts mentioned that the share of the country’s budget revenues in GDP is lower than in other countries, which once again illustrates that Georgia has low taxes.
With the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Georgian government continues working on the country’s medium and long-term economic recovery plans in cooperation with international experts.
In mid-June, experts from Deloitte highly appreciated Georgia's anti-crisis measures and noted that the country has good opportunities to become a more attractive investment platform.
